Subway will again launch the SUBWAY® FRESH FIT ™ Video and Poster Competition this months. The competition is designed to help increase awareness of the childhood obesity epidemic affecting families in the area and across the nation. Local children and their schools/clubs will be recognized for making healthy choices, both in exercise and diet.

Subway restaurants have partnered with the Jared Foundation and its program called Coordinated Approach to Child Health for guidance and tips to help students track their daily progress toward a healthier life.

“CATCH® programs are already in many local schools and we are excited to support building healthy children, families and communities,” said national SUBWAY® spokesperson Jared Fogle. “Through the Fresh Start Challenge, we want students to start the year off right with a focus on good health and nutrition habits. We also encourage them to make it fun by getting their family and classmates involved.”

The contest runs through Sept. 30 and is open to elementary and middle school students (ages 5–14). Grand-prize winners will receive a $1,000 fitness grant for the purchase of sports equipment for their school’s physical education department, which represents an investment back into the local community. In addition to the grant, the overall winners also will receive $1,000 in Subway cash cards. Each student who mails in the completed entry form will receive a coupon for a free SUBWAY FRESH FIT® kid’s meal or 6-inch sub sandwich. In the Lowcountry, two student winners will be selected by random drawing to receive a sub party for their class and a $1,000 fitness grant for their school.

More information about the Fresh Start Challenge and entry forms are available at local SUBWAY® restaurants and online at subwayfreshstart.com.
