Charleston police arrested a woman about a block away from the downtown bank they think she robbed this afternoon, agency spokesman Charles Francis said.
The ordeal unfolded about 2 p.m. at Calhoun and Meeting streets.
Officers were seen rushing to First Citizens Bank at 317 Meeting St. and talking to people standing outside.
Nearby, at Meeting and Hutson streets, officers blocked traffic and handcuffed a woman wearing pink pants and a “Go Army” ballcap.
A witness who was waiting at the nearby bus stop said the woman was “pregnant” with a sack full of cash.
